Comments: - Yeovil were by far the better side in this match, and looked much more comfortable both on and off the ball in this match, than in recent games. The victory looked secure for much of the game after the first goal had gone in, bar a couple of nervy moments late in the second half.
However, the defence stayed strong and consistant, with goalkeeper Chris Weale pulling of several good saves, to ensure Yeovil's lead. The best of which came from denying ex-on-loan-Glover Charlie Griffen. Weale got down to the powerful 30-yard strike tipping the ball round the post, before colliding with it amid the heroics.
The first goal came from a defensive error, and a lucky parry by the Woking keeper. Adam Stansfield intercepted a poor pass by the debutee Woking midfielder Brian McGorry. Stansfield took the ball down the left wing, and cut into the Woking penalty area, before firing a shot a tight angle, which was parried by the Woking goalkeeper. The ball fell to Steve Thompson near the penalty spot, to slame home into the empty net.
Yeovil's second goal came in the 90th minute of the game, and as you would expect it arrived when the majority of the Woking players were up the other end of the pitch pushing for the equaliser. Anthony Tonkin's defensive found Chris Giles halfway up the field in acres of space. After cooly taking the ball past a stranded Woking player, he took the ball down the wing, before driving it low across the six-yard line, finding Adam Stansfield to slot the ball home.
The referee was far from perfect. Several dodgy decisions included when a Kim Grant header, obvious to all watching (apart from the ref and his linesman) was tipped round the post by the keeper. All fans were on there feet- Woking applauding their keeper, and Yeovil because we didn't have anywhere to sit anyway! McIndoe jogged out to take the corner, only to discover that the referee had amazing given a goal kick. The ref also made 2 (out of the 3 he gave) very unneccessary bookings after two, pretty standard tackles by the two players.
But the referee did not spoile a good day at the office for Yeovil, who came out deserved winners in the end, 2-0.
